Product Launch Formula

Product Launch Formula 3‘s pre-launch has been interesting to watch.

The launch of the current version of Jeff Walker‘s classic started a while back, with the first pre-launch video titled Product Launch Millionaires. This video was a welcome to the Product Launch Formula ideology, served as an introduction to those how aren’t familiar with Jeff, and was a refresher to those who were.

Jeff’s second pre-launch video was Product Launch Disasters. A number of well-known Internet marketers used the phrase “names names” to describe this video. This is because that’s exactly what Jeff did: he named the names—and showed the faces of—well-known marketers who had made significant mistakes during their own product launches. Mike Filsaime forgot to fill in the blanks on a templated salesletter, and let it go live. Andy Jenkins left an order link live long before the official launch of Video Boss. Even Jeff himself once forgot to mail his own list for one of his own product launches.

Imagine that: releasing a product and forgetting to tell the people who are most likely to buy it.

The great thing about this, and the takeaway form the Launch Disasters video, was that you can make all sort of nearly catastrophic mistakes during a launch, and you’ll still do well. That’s how robust the Product Launch Formula methodology is. You’re not just relying on one single point of failure, so even if you fail at one thing, the other areas of your product launch serve as a catch-all and help you rebound from your mistakes.

Next was the iPhone 4 launch video. A lot of people are familiar with some of the events of the iPhone 4′s launch: the rumors that started in January, the leaked iPhone, the keynote given by Jobs, and the taking of pre-orders. What a lot of people aren’t aware of is the parallels between the iPhone 4′s launch and a typical product launch done the way Jeff teaches. The iPhone 4 served as a great way for Jeff to illustrate these parallels and similarities, and he did a good job of doing so.

Now, Jeff has released his Product Launch Blueprint video, with a corresponding document of the same title. In this 41-minute video, Jeff went over some of the tactics that he and his clients have used to generate millions and millions of dollars in product launches.

After a short introduction, at about 3 minutes into the video, Jeff gets into the core content: the blueprint.

He starts off by showing you why it’s important to start your business with a product launch, as opposed to just starting a business the lame, old-fashioned way. He also starts to show you why his
product launch (or business launch) process work.

He then shows you the different phases of the pre-launch content sequence, such as the headline, the story, social proof…all the way to the successful launch and even the echo (the after-effects of the launch).

Remember that this is a 41-minute video, which is enough time to give a good overview of how to do a product launch. In fact, you could probably take this one video, and base a successful launch off of it.

What Is Product Launch Formula 3.0?

Around 1996, Jeff Walker needed to create some sort of income. He had built a small list of subscribers, and had the idea of releasing an info product. This was the genesis of Jeff’s product launch journey, and from there on, he went on to the “six in seven”. “Six in seven” just means six figures in seven days. When he started mentioning this, people wanted to know more. This eventually led up to the first Product Launch Formula.

Since then, Product Launch Formula has been updated and released a number of times.

One significant milestone was the newly announced FTC regulation laws that were introduced around December 2009. The fullest interpretation of some of these laws meant that you couldn’t use testimonials on your marketing materials.

Because of this, Jeff felt it was best to take Product Launch Formula off the market…at least for a while. Product Launch Formula 3.0 is the newly-revised, post-FTC version of his landmark course. It contains new information and an updated methodology, because, in Jeff’s words, “the old ways just aren’t working anymore.”
