{firstname!}, Your Emails Suck – Part 2
Over the last year or so I have gotten to know Alex Goad well, in fact I am now working for Alex leading the Google Conquest membership site teaching seo, niche marketing, wordpress. From time to time I stop by Alex’s site, the last post is titled:
{firstname!}, Your Emails Suck and it’s Killing Your List!
Once again I have to take my hat off to Alex and say Bravo …
Well done.
Don’t you big shot internet marketers get it? If your going to spend the time, energy and money to build a list. Then respect those people on your list enough to write your own dam emails when “launch time” rolls around, with that I present evidence item number one below.

I agree entirely. It smacks to me of somebody who either doesn’t care, in which why should I care about buying from them, or doesn’t know what they’re doing, in which why I should I trust their word about the product they’re recommending?
Brian, I must be on dozens of these lists because I got about 15 of the exact Frank Kern emails. I’m just starting to build a list for one main product/service. I used the email copy in our resource center for our launch and got less than 30% opens. The next mailing I wrote my own message and got 90% opens and 75% clicks. Lesson learned, if I don’t bother to open the “duplicated messages”, no one will open mine.

I sometimes use part of the template / swipe emails. However so many marketers change nothing … and it hurts their sales and credibility.

A week before I saw this post on Alex’s site I commented on my blog about the same thing, although I was doing so in a slightly different vein. I must spent 20 minutes a day deleting email and sometimes I want to hear from the marketer involved but I sure get a lot of junk with very little original content. The amazing thing is that these are “Big Names”. I am enjoying your training on GC and will be first in line for your new product when it hits the market.

first visit to your site, I just couldn´t pass up on that title LOL and had to comment. Instead of staying on any of those lists that bring me nothing but rehashed same ol´same ol´ I actually made the decision a few weeks ago to instead of wasting my time deleting, it was about time to start unsubscribing from a LOT of lists, going from wasting almost an hour a day sifting through mails and getting sidetracked by “the next best thing I had to check out” to having a cleaned up inbox that only holds important mails

Brian – I am surprised at how many of the top gurus don’t even write their own emails for these sort of launches. I get 100’s of duplicate emails from different marketers. I also want to say what a pleasure it has been learning from you on GC as well as your SEO Press Formula.

Firstly, another thanks is in order for your many hours on the GC calls. I listen to them on my ipod while working around the house. TIME WELL SPENT!
And I agree, alot of email marketers don’t seem to care. Why would I open a letter, even if it’s from a trusted friend, if I knew it was going to be a photocopy of another friend’s letter? Boring. No value.

I’m glad I’m not the only one steamed up about this! The amazing thing to me is the sheer incompetence of sending emails that actually start with “{firstname}” rather than my name!
I feel a rant coming on – so I think I’ll go do something useful instead!
